Four experimental modules are combined into one experiment to provide a comprehensive biotechnology exploration focusing on the green fluorescent protein (GFP). Bacterial cells are transformed to express the green fluorescent protein (GFP). The transformed cells are then grown and the GFP is purified by column chromatography. Finally, the purity of the protein fractions are analyzed by SDS polyacrylamide electrophoresis.

Kit Includes:

Instructions, BactoBeads™ ampicillin, CaCl₂, pGFP plasmid, growth additive, bottle of recovery broth, Lysozyme, TEG buffer, column elution buffer, dry molecular sieve matrix, control cell extract containing GFP, protein molecular weight standards, protein denaturing solution, 50% glycerol solution, 10x gel loading solution, Tris-Glycine-SDS electrophoresis buffer (10x), Protein InstaStain®, 2 bottles of ReadyPour™ luria broth agar, petri plates, plastic microtipped transfer pipets, wrapped 10mL and 1mL pipets, inoculating loops, microcentrifuge tubes, microtiter strips, and chromatography columns.

All you need:

Adjustable volume micropipette (5-50µl) and tips, two water baths, floating racks or foam tube holders, thermometer, incubation oven, ice buckets and ice, marking pens, tape, long wave UV light, UV safety glasses, pipet pumps or bulbs, microwave, centrifuge, vortex (optional), freezer (-20˚ C), ring stands and column clamps, vertical gel electrophoresis apparatus, polyacrylamide gels (3), power supply, weigh boats or staining trays, rocking platform, glacial acetic acid (preferred) or white vinegar, ethanol, & distilled water
